SORRY

The FBI and the president may claim that North Korea is to blame for the hacking of Sony Pictures Entertainment. However, says Marc Rogers, a top expert on hacking and cybersecurity, all the signs point in the direction of a disgruntled employee facing a pink slip.

YIPPEE

Just a day after certain theaters announced they would be playing The Interview this Christmas, Sony has put the film out for rental on YouTube, Google Play, and XBox video starting at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday. In addition, a total of about 300 theaters nationwide, in nearly every state, will show the comedy on Christmas Day. However, none of them belong to any of the major chains that pulled out after threats by hackers.

TRUE BELIEVER

Texas lawmaker Dwayne Bohac was outraged when his first-grader came home from school talking about a “holiday tree.” David Freedlander reports on how Bohac is succeeding in his vow to bring back “Christmas freedom.”

STANDING UP

The parents of Trayvon Martin want nothing to do with the “Trayvon Martin Organizing Committee,” the fringe network of radicals linked to marchers calling for “dead cops” at a New York City protest. In an exclusive, Jacob Siegel reports on the family’s consistent rejection of any violence directed at law enforcement.

HORROR

Despite Qatar’s promises to create better working conditions, Nepalese migrants working to build infrastructure for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar died at a rate of one every two days in 2014. That already high number does not include the deaths of Indian, Sri Lankan, and Bangladeshi workers. After a blockbuster report by The Guardian in 2013 exposed the horrible conditions for migrant workers, the government promised reform and commissioned an investigation by DLA Piper. Apparently, those reforms have not been implemented fast enough.
