Neil Diamond will donate to charity some of the profits from this week’s huge spike in sales of “Sweet Caroline,” which many in Boston consider a Red Sox anthem. Sales of the song are up 597 percent this week, Nielsen SoundScan said. The company sold 19,000 tracks this week alone—compared with 2,800 the previous week. Although the song makes no mention of Boston or the Red Sox, Fenway Park started playing it around a decade ago, and Diamond himself visited the ballpark Saturday.
