The Brits apparently really like films about the good old US of A. For the second year in a row, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awarded the best film honor to a movie rooted in American history, 12 Years a Slave. Last year's win went to Argo. Chiwetel Ejiofor also took home the award for best leading actor. A favorite for the Oscar, Cate Blanchett won for best leading actress and dedicated it to her friend, Philip Seymour Hoffman. “Phil, buddy, this is for you, you bastard. I hope you're proud!,” she said.
