Everyone can stop trying now. According to the Egyptian military, they've finally cured not just HIV, but also Hepatitis C after 22 years of clandestine research. At a news conference last week, army doctor Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Abdul Atti announced the discovery. “You will never find another patient suffering from the Hepatitis C virus after today, God willing,” he said. In a separate announcement, the military claims it can detect Hepatitis C with a machine from across a room. Egypt has the highest prevalence of the virus, but only a small HIV infection rate.
