Speaking before a cabinet meeting in Tel Aviv on Friday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Israeli military has been instructed “to prepare for a significant expansion of the ground operation.” The ground operations, which began Thursday in the Gaza Strip, have involved Israeli soldiers, tanks, heavy artillery, aircraft, and warships. According to the Israeli military, Gaza fighters have infiltrated Israel both by sea and a network of tunnels dug under the border.
