The percentage of American teenagers on Facebook continued to drop in the past year. The number of active users age 13 to 17 fell from 94 percent in 2013 to 88 percent this year. In 2012, the figure was 95 percent. In the same report from Frank N. Magid Associates, Twitter and other messaging apps like Snapchat and Kik increased their usage among teenagers. One of the biggest reasons teens cited for leaving was trust issues regarding the social network. Just 9 percent said they viewed it as “safe” or “trustworthy.”
