Four South Korean officials will be punished for their involvement in the probe of a Korea Air Lines executive who forced a plane to return over a bag of macadamia nuts this month. The transport ministry did not specify the exact punishment in its Monday announcement, but the officials could be fired or face salary cuts. Former Korean Air executive Cho Hyun Ah, the daughter of the airline’s chairman, infamously forced a plane to return to the gate in New York after her nuts were served in a bag and not on a plate. Now, the four officials may lose their jobs for leaking information about the government probe into the incident and failing to interview first-class passengers who said Cho assaulted and threatened the chief flight attendant. One of the officials was already arrested Friday for divulging information to a current executive. A Seoul court is expected to decide on Tuesday whether Cho herself will be arrested.
